about

"You wear memories on your arms, you hang memories on the walls. You were celebrating something you just can't recall..."
This is a song about nostalgia. It's party autobiographical (like most of my songs are) but I also had Nico from the Velvet Underground - and the song 'All Tomorrow's Parties' - in mind when I wrote it.

lyrics

Party Girl

VERSE 1:
Well, the late nights have taken their toll.
You're tired of living and wish you could sleep through it all.
There's a photo by the bed of a girl you used to know.
Not so long ago, you were the life and the soul.

CHORUS:
But there was one party too many.
Now you don't go to any.

VERSE 2:
And an older than its years face says it all.
A scar on your chin from some drunken fall.
You wear memories on your arms.
You hang memories on the wall.
You were celebrating something you just can't recall.

CHORUS 2:
Cos there was one party too many.
Now you don't go to any.
There was one party too many.
Now you won't go to any.

OUTRO:
But when that song on the radio relieves the mundane.
You get the same old feelings.
You get the same old feelings.
And when you turn up the volume and the neighbours complain.
You get the same old feelings.
You get the same old feelings.
You get the same old feelings.
